According to Google Trends data, searches for "altcoin" on Google have reached their highest level since 2021, while interest in "Ethereum" has reached a two-year peak. Google Trends has previously recorded similar surges. In early 2018, a few months after Bitcoin peaked in late 2017, when retail investors' attention turned to a wave of new cryptocurrencies launched through initial coin offerings (ICOs).
