BIT Mining Limited announced plans to change its name to SOLAI (NYSE: SLAI) to reflect its strategic transformation and in-depth investment in the Solana ecosystem. The name, a fusion of the Latin word for "sun" (SOL) and Solana's vision, symbolizes the company's focus on high-performance blockchain systems and AI-driven innovation. The company's board of directors has resolved to change its English name and stock symbol, pending approval at a special shareholders' meeting on October 9th. BIT Mining recently deployed Solana validator nodes and launched a $300 million ecosystem strategy, aiming to become a long-term contributor to the blockchain network and promote decentralization and ecosystem resilience. Earlier news broke that Bit Mining will convert its cryptocurrency holdings into Solana and raise $200 million to $300 million for the Solana strategy.
