North Wales Police reported that a victim lost approximately $2.8 million (approximately €2.1 million) in Bitcoin after being tricked into entering their wallet's recovery phrase through a social engineering attack. The scammers, posing as senior British law enforcement officials, falsely claimed the victim's identification information had been found on the suspect's phone and instructed them to "protect" their assets through a fake website. After the victim entered their recovery phrase, their funds were stolen within minutes.
