He believes that building a complete Layer2 network code is complex and has a wide attack surface, making it difficult to guarantee that there are no vulnerabilities and complete performance. For this reason, the existing Layer2 generally adopts an upgraded multi-signature mechanism, but this makes all security guarantees meaningless. Toly emphasized that Layer2 and the cross-chain bridge Wormhole face the same extreme risk - multi-signatures can mobilize all bridge funds. In contrast, even if the validators of chains such as Sui obtain 100% pledge support, they cannot unilaterally change the status without coordination with mainstream exchanges and RPC nodes. However, Layer2's multi-signature can directly upgrade the bridge contract and transfer funds. He explicitly refuted the statement that "Layer2 inherits the security of Ethereum", pointing out that after 5 years of implementation of the L2 roadmap, the Wormhole on Solana will be more secure.
