The Basel Committee is reviewing the capital rules for bank crypto assets, originally scheduled to take effect next year.

The US advocates for revisions, arguing that the current standard imposes the same 1250% risk weight on permissionless stablecoins such as USDC and USDT as on Bitcoin, which is too high; the ECB prefers to implement the current standard first and then review it.
