The Eighth National Conference on Criminal Trial Work: Focusing on New Issues Such as the Handling of Virtual Currency Cases

The Eighth National Criminal Trial Work Conference held today emphasized safeguarding cyberspace security, outlining specific requirements in three areas: First, it stressed the need to focus on emerging issues such as the handling of virtual currencies involved in cases, online live-streaming of obscene performances, jurisdiction over cybercrime cases, and the collection and authentication of electronic data; to further improve judicial rules, standardize judgment criteria, and promote lawful and civilized use of the internet. Second, it called for severely cracking down on cross-border online gambling crimes, holding online platforms that provide services for overseas gambling and disseminate harmful gambling-related information criminally liable, and cooperating with relevant departments to rectify online gambling promotion chains. Third, it emphasized the need to intensify the crackdown on upstream illegal and criminal activities in the black and gray industries, such as the infringement of citizens' personal information, severely punish "industry insiders," apply occupational bans according to law, and promote the strengthening of the regulatory responsibilities of online platforms.
