Japanese and South Korean stock markets opened higher, with the South Korean stock market rising more than 2.6%.

The Nikkei 225 index opened 643.24 points higher, or 1.33%, at 49,180.94 on Thursday, November 20. The South Korean KOSPI index opened 105.54 points higher, or 2.69%, at 4,035.05 on Thursday, November 20.
