The OpenAI Foundation will donate $40.5 million to a U.S. non-profit organization.

The donation aims to “expand opportunities in artificial intelligence” and will support work in three areas: AI literacy and public understanding, community innovation, and economic opportunity. This is OpenAI’s largest nonprofit expenditure to date, but it is still a small fraction of the foundation’s approximately $130 billion equity stake following its recent corporate restructuring.
