The Bank of Japan raised interest rates by 25 basis points as expected.

The Bank of Japan raised its benchmark interest rate from 0.5% to 0.75%, in line with market expectations. This is the highest interest rate in 30 years and the first rate hike by the Bank of Japan in 11 months since January 2025.
