An IT professional was investigated by police in two different locations on different charges and had 183 bitcoins seized.

Police in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province, and Changge, Henan Province, both launched investigations into Li Dong (pseudonym), an IT professional from Shenzhen, on suspicion of "operating a casino." Zhangjiajie police seized 103 Bitcoins from Li Dong's account, which were converted into nearly 50 million yuan; Henan police seized 80 Bitcoins, valued at over 40 million yuan. Later, Li Dong was not convicted of "operating a casino," but was prosecuted by the Changge City Procuratorate in Henan Province for suspected theft and infringement of citizens' personal information. In January 2026, the case was publicly heard in the Changge City Court. After a recess, the court stated that it would reconvene at a later date.
