Tencent has requested GitHub to remove certain open-source projects related to exporting WeChat chat history, citing concerns about potential hacking and privacy risks.

Tencent responded that some open-source projects that read WeChat chat history crack the local database key by reverse engineering the WeChat client, thereby bypassing the encryption measures of the WeChat client and threatening the data privacy and client security of users and third parties. They are also highly vulnerable to exploitation by black and gray market actors.
