The Bitcoin Policy Institute, payment app Fedi, and Cornell University will collaborate on a two-year study to explore American attitudes toward financial privacy, acceptable trade-offs, and how regulation influences their behavior. Cornell Brooks Institute for Technology Policy will serve as an academic partner, with the first report expected in April 2026. This research will combine quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, focusing on public perceptions of privacy and trust in institutions in everyday transactions, aiming to provide empirical evidence for the current debate on privacy policy among developers and privacy tools facing a challenging regulatory environment.
