CoinFeed reported on March 3 that, according to The Block, Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Michael Selig has appointed former federal prosecutor David Miller as head of its law enforcement division. Miller previously served as a litigation partner at the law firms Greenberg Traurig and Morgan Lewis, specializing in commodities, securities, digital assets, and national security. He also served as an assistant attorney in the Southern District of New York for nearly a decade and as a counterterrorism prosecutor at the Department of Justice. This appointment comes as the CFTC prepares to play a greater role in regulating the cryptocurrency industry and prediction markets. Over the past year, Washington lawmakers have been pushing for legislation to grant the CFTC broader jurisdiction over the crypto industry.
