The US, UK, and Canada jointly thwarted a $45 million cryptocurrency scam and froze $12 million in stolen funds.

CoinFeed reported on April 10 that, according to an announcement on the U.S. Secret Service website, U.S., British, and Canadian law enforcement agencies jointly conducted a week-long "Operation Atlantic" to combat authorized phishing scams. The operation identified over $45 million in cryptocurrency fraud globally, froze $12 million in stolen funds, and dismantled over 120 fraudulent domains. Investigators identified over 20,000 cryptocurrency wallet addresses in more than 30 countries linked to victims and directly contacted over 3,000 individuals believed to have been victims or at risk. In addition, the operation flagged $33 million in funds suspected of investment fraud, pending further investigation. The U.S. Secret Service stated that this operation demonstrates the importance of international cooperation in combating cryptocurrency fraud.
