CoinFeed reported on April 22 that a family in the French Brittany town of Ploudalmézeau was broken into by two masked men armed with guns on Monday. Three adults were held captive for over three hours and forced to transfer approximately €700,000 (about $820,000) in cryptocurrency assets to a wallet controlled by the attackers. The suspects then fled in a car, which was later recovered by police in Brest. No arrests have been made so far. The report states that since the beginning of this year, French judicial police have recorded over 40 kidnapping or hijacking cases related to cryptocurrency, up from approximately 30 in 2025. These include several attempted kidnappings or intrusions targeting the family of news anchor TeufeurS, David Princay, head of Binance France, and a female judge.
