CoinFeed reported on April 23 that, according to TechRadar, the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has released a new technical report officially recognizing Passkeys as superior to traditional passwords and recommending them as the "preferred login method" for various digital services. The NCSC points out that Passkeys, based on encryption keys stored locally on the device and typically combined with biometric unlocking, offer security that is "at least as good as, and usually as good as," the strongest password plus two-step verification. The NCSC states that the industry has significantly improved compatibility and implementation over the past year, with over half of active Google users in the UK now registered for Passkeys, and platforms such as eBay and PayPal also integrating them. Therefore, the organization no longer recommends continuing to use passwords when better solutions are available.
