CoinFeed reported on April 25 that, according to Jinshi News, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman apologized to the Tamborridge community in Canada for failing to report the banned account related to Jesse Van Rootselaar to the police. According to police, Jesse Van Rootselaar murdered eight people at a school in February before committing suicide. OpenAI had previously stated that it banned Van Rootselaar's account last year for policy violations, but the issue did not meet internal standards for reporting to law enforcement. Sam Altman stated that he had spoken with the mayor of Tamborridge and the premier of British Columbia about the tragedy, describing the local community's pain as "unimaginable."
