Following the death of the co-founder of British online retailer ASOS, nearly $4 million was transferred from his Bitcoin wallet.
CoinFeed reported on April 29th that, according to the Daily Mail, Quentin Griffiths, co-founder of the British online retailer ASOS, died after falling from the 17th floor of his apartment in Thailand on February 9th. Nearly $4 million was transferred from his Bitcoin wallet within days of his death. The 58-year-old Griffiths was previously investigated by Thai police for allegedly defrauding a company he ran with his 43-year-old ex-wife of approximately £500,000. He was convicted of fraud last October and sentenced to 18 months in prison, but reportedly appealed to remain free under Thai law. Two days before his death, he was scheduled to meet with his ex-wife's lawyer. His eldest son, Joel, reported the Bitcoin missing six weeks after his father's death, and Thai police are investigating. Griffiths' family discovered the missing funds in his cryptocurrency wallet while traveling to Thailand to handle funeral arrangements; the funds could only be transferred by someone with authorized access to the wallet.
