Chicago rapper Lil Zay Osama has been federally charged with cryptocurrency burglary.
CoinFeed reported on April 30 that, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago rapper Lil Zay Osama (real name Isaiah Dukes) has been indicted by a federal grand jury along with five others for alleged involvement in a cryptocurrency home invasion robbery, facing charges of robbery and kidnapping. On March 8, three suspects, posing as food delivery drivers, broke into a residence in Winnetka, a northern suburb of Chicago, holding the victim hostage for approximately one hour and demanding access to a safe, computer, and cryptocurrency accounts. The FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Winnetka Police Department participated in the investigation. Osama was charged on April 16; his lawyer stated that Osama did not participate in the robbery or plan the incident. All seven defendants pleaded not guilty and were ordered to remain in custody. Osama was previously sentenced to 14 months in prison in 2024 for possession of a machine gun.
