CoinFeed reported on May 1st that, according to The Block, Japanese financial group SBI Holdings is in talks with cryptocurrency exchange Bitbank regarding a potential acquisition, aiming to incorporate Bitbank into its consolidated subsidiary structure to strengthen its presence in the Japanese cryptocurrency market. SBI Chairman and President Yoshitaka Kitao stated that the company has submitted a letter of intent and formally initiated discussions on capital and business cooperation with Bitbank. The share acquisition will proceed after due diligence and internal approval processes are completed; the specific transaction structure and timeline are still under negotiation. Bitbank is one of Japan's leading cryptocurrency trading platforms, having avoided major hacking incidents since its establishment in 2014, and is known for its security and compliance capabilities.
