CoinFeed reported on May 5 that, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), a spokesperson for the DPRK Foreign Ministry, in response to a reporter's question on May 3 regarding the US's hype surrounding the so-called "cyber threat" from North Korea, stated that US government agencies, media outlets, and related organizations have recently attempted to spread a distorted perception of North Korea to the international community, linking all cyber fraud worldwide to North Korea. The spokesperson stated that the US portraying itself as a "victim" is unreasonable and accused the US of using its control over global IT infrastructure to conduct indiscriminate cyberattacks against other countries. The spokesperson further stated that the hype surrounding the so-called "cyber threat" is a continuation of the US's hostile policy towards North Korea, aimed at spreading disinformation and damaging North Korea's image for political purposes. The spokesperson stated that North Korea will protect cyberspace from malicious acts and opposes using cyber issues as a political tool to infringe upon sovereignty and interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.
