CoinFeed reported on May 6th that, according to The Block, after suffering a bridging attack worth approximately $292 million last month, Kelp DAO has decided to abandon LayerZero and switch to Chainlink's cross-chain infrastructure. Kelp DAO will use Chainlink's cross-chain interoperability protocol, which requires 16 independent node operators to verify cross-chain transactions, becoming the first major protocol to leave LayerZero after the attack. In the attack, LayerZero-driven OFT bridging used a 1-of-1 single validator configuration, and 47% of LayerZero applications used the same configuration at the time. LayerZero subsequently announced it would discontinue the single validator signing configuration. Kelp DAO stated that migrating to Chainlink CCIP directly resolved the architectural vulnerabilities in the attack.
