Yakovenko stated that the Alpenglow upgrade aims to bring transaction confirmation speeds close to the physical limit of "light speed," improving the network's speed, reliability, and transaction determinism, shifting Solana from its early innovation focus to a more mature phase emphasizing performance guarantees and reliability.
