CoinFeed reported on May 7th, citing CoinDesk, that renowned investor Kevin O'Leary stated at the Consensus conference that the tokenization craze on Wall Street was largely hype until the US Congress passed a clear regulatory bill for digital assets. Bitcoin and tokenized assets remained too risky for large institutional investors. He pointed out that everything would change once a formal legal framework was established in the US. O'Leary cited stablecoins as an example, noting that after the GENIUS bill was passed, stablecoins were adopted "almost immediately," reducing cross-border payments from three days to minutes, significantly lowering costs, and providing compliance and transparency. O'Leary believes that institutional investors' focus is now highly concentrated on Bitcoin and Ethereum, with 97% of the market value derived from these two assets, and many small-cap tokens have been "eliminated."
