CoinFeed reported on May 9th that, according to Cointelegraph, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren wrote to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, requesting clarification on the company's stablecoin integration plans. Warren stated that Meta's lack of transparency, given its previous plans to launch a global stablecoin, Libra (later renamed Diem), is "deeply disturbing." She believes that Congress needs to understand Meta's stablecoin plans in the context of the U.S. government's push for digital asset market structure legislation. Warren requested Zuckerberg to provide detailed information on the stablecoin pilot by May 20th, including the planned launch date, potential third-party stablecoins, and privacy protection measures. Meta launched USDC stablecoin payments to select creators in the Philippines and Colombia in April.
