CoinFeed reported on May 12 that on-chain investigator ZachXBT publicly accused Dritan Kapllani Jr., a US-based threat actor, of involvement in a social engineering theft targeting crypto users totaling approximately $19 million. ZachXBT stated that Dritan displayed an Exodus wallet containing $3.68 million in assets during a Discord call and was traced back to a March 2026 theft of 185 BTC (approximately $13 million). ZachXBT indicated that the US Department of Justice unfroze the criminal complaint against Trenton Johnson on May 11, who faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison for his involvement in the 185 BTC theft, while Dritan was listed as "Complicit Conspirator No. 1 (CC-1)" but has not yet been formally charged.
