The transaction was completed in May 2024, weeks before Farage announced his candidacy for the general election. Farage is currently facing a parliamentary inquiry into the matter, with critics arguing that the gift should have been declared upon his inauguration. Farage and his party maintain that there was no wrongdoing, as the gift was received before he entered politics and is therefore not subject to the same declaration requirements.
