Tezos launches quantum-resistant private payment prototype "TzEL" on testnet

CoinFeed News

CoinFeed reported on May 15th, citing Cointelegraph, that Tezos ecosystem developers have launched a prototype private blockchain payment testnet called TzEL, designed to withstand future quantum computing attacks. This prototype uses post-quantum cryptography and zk-STARK proofs to protect transaction data and encrypted payment metadata, preventing "collect first, decrypt later" attacks. TzEL leverages Tezos' data availability layer to handle the larger proof size (approximately 300KB) introduced by post-quantum cryptography, which was one of the main technical obstacles to building scalable on-chain quantum-resistant privacy systems. TzEL is currently running on the Tezos testnet and is still under development; the transition of the Tezos ecosystem to quantum-resistant cryptography is still in its early stages.
