Polish parliament passes cryptocurrency regulation bill, including investigation into Zondacrypto scam.
CoinFeed reported on May 15th that, according to Reuters, the Polish parliament passed a cryptocurrency regulatory bill on May 15th to implement the EU's Crypto Asset Market Regulation Act (MiCA). Poland must complete the implementation of the relevant rules by July. This legislation comes against the backdrop of allegations of a large-scale fraud involving the Polish cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto. Polish prosecutors have launched a multi-million dollar fraud investigation, estimating user losses to exceed 350 million zlotys (approximately $95.93 million), with thousands of users currently unable to withdraw their funds. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk previously stated that Zondacrypto may be involved with "Russian funds" and foreign political influence.
