Galaxy has obtained a BitLicense in New York State, which will allow it to provide digital asset services in the state.

CoinFeed reported on May 19th that Galaxy Digital announced the New York State Department of Financial Services has granted it a BitLicense and a money transfer license, allowing it to offer digital asset services in New York State. This approval applies to Galaxy subsidiary GalaxyOne Prime NY, which will provide trading and custody services to New York residents, institutions, and businesses. This approval brings Galaxy's total number of licenses globally to over 50. Galaxy is the second company this year to receive a BitLicense, following Strike, founded by Jack Mallers. Only MoonPay and Bullish, backed by Peter Thiel, are expected to receive such licenses by 2025.
