Echo: The attack stemmed from a leak of the administrator's key. Control has been regained and the remaining 955 eBTC belonging to the hacker have been destroyed.
CoinFeed reported on May 19th that Echo Protocol released an update on its X platform stating that earlier today, it discovered unauthorized eBTC activity on Monad, resulting in unauthorized issuance and related financial losses. The investigation revealed that the issue stemmed from the leakage of administrator keys affecting Monad deployment. According to current findings, approximately $816,000 worth of funds on Monad were affected. The Monad network itself was unaffected and is currently operating normally. The team has been actively investigating potential cross-chain risks, coordinating with ecosystem partners, and implementing additional preventative measures. Control of the administrator keys has now been successfully regained, and the remaining 955 eBTC held by the attacker have been destroyed. This incident is currently limited to Monad; no evidence of impact has been found on Aptos.
