CoinFeed reported on May 20th that, according to GoPlus monitoring, the hacker group TeamPCP claims to have obtained the source code of approximately 4,000 private repositories within GitHub and is offering it for sale on underground forums for $50,000, with support for sample verification. If no one buys it, they may release the data publicly for free later. Previously, GitHub officially confirmed that it is investigating this "unauthorized access to internal repositories" issue, suspected to be due to malicious VS Code/AI Coding plugins being installed on GitHub employees' devices.
