OpenSea launches Ethereum's open standard ERC-8257, positioning itself as an "AI agent tool application store".

CoinFeed reported on May 27th that OpenSea has announced the release of the Ethereum open standard ERC-8257 (Agent Tool Registry), positioning it as an "AI agent tool application store." This standard allows developers to register tools on-chain, declare access rules and pricing, and supports AI agents autonomously discovering, purchasing access permissions, and invoking tools without human intervention. OpenSea stated that this standard, along with protocols such as ERC-8004 (Agent Identity), MCP (Tool Discovery), and x402 (Payment Protocol), forms a layered architecture that constitutes the on-chain operational infrastructure for AI agents. Currently, ERC-8257 is still in the draft stage, and OpenSea invites developers to participate in its refinement.
