157 government and enterprise websites became "stepping stones" for pornography; hackers were sentenced for using cryptocurrency to hide illicit funds.
CoinFeed reported on May 29th that, according to Xinhua Daily, hundreds of government and enterprise websites and well-known apps have been compromised, becoming "free springboards" for hacker groups to profit from. Following a public prosecution by the Qujiang District Procuratorate of Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, on April 23rd, the court sentenced the defendant, Zhou, to four years and four months in prison for illegally controlling computer information systems, and imposed a fine. Zhou pleaded guilty and accepted the sentence, which is now in effect. Between August 2023 and June 2025, Zhou illegally obtained control of over 150 servers by exploiting website security vulnerabilities. He then used these servers to automatically redirect links to overseas pornographic websites and resold the access for profit. 157 government and enterprise websites and well-known apps were affected. All of Zhou's illegal gains were settled in cryptocurrencies such as USDT and TRX and dispersed across multiple encrypted wallets.
