ByteDance's Doubao AI Phone Faces Filing Hurdles, Launch May Be Delayed to Q3
CoinFeed, June 23 – According to Blue Whale Finance citing informed sources, the new-generation Doubao AI phone jointly developed by ByteDance and ZTE has encountered delays in large model filing and MIIT network access certification. The initial application was not approved, and after a second submission, it remains under review, with the earliest possible launch in July or August. On the supply chain side, the screen supplier has been changed from Tianma to BOE, the battery is provided by Desay Battery using ATL cells, and the device is assembled by China Union Electronics under Furi Electronics. The report notes that the phone adopts a path of 'deep integration of large models into the operating system and cross-application intelligent agents,' but the system-level AI Agent faces data permission restrictions from platforms like Tencent and Alibaba, reflecting a common bottleneck in ecosystem openness for current AI phones.
