Tether-backed payment app Oobit integrates Brazil’s PIX network, enabling USDT spending and settlement

CoinFeed, June 23 – Tether-backed payment app Oobit has integrated PIX, the instant payment network built by Brazil’s central bank, allowing users to top up Brazilian reais (BRL), swap to and hold USDT, and then complete everyday payments via the PIX network. Oobit said users can send USDT to any PIX Key or scan a QR code to pay, with on-chain settlement happening in the background while the front-end experience matches the PIX flow in existing banking apps. Brazil’s PIX currently has nearly 170 million users. In 2024, Oobit closed a $25 million Series A round led by Tether and Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko.
