South Korea Establishes Inter-agency AI Crime Response Body to Combat Deepfake Fraud and Digital Crimes
CoinFeed June 26 news, according to Xinhua News Agency, the South Korean government established an inter-agency consultative body on the 26th to address criminal acts using artificial intelligence (AI) technology such as 'digital sexual crimes', financial fraud, and false advertising. This new body is named 'Inter-agency Consultative Body on AI-related Crimes', with members from 10 government departments including the Korea Communications Commission, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the Financial Services Commission, and the National Police Agency. According to South Korean media, as AI-related crimes become increasingly rampant, it is often difficult for a single agency to handle them, hence the need for an inter-agency body to coordinate and cooperate.
