Apple's First Touchscreen MacBook Pro May Feature M5 Pro/Max Chip, M7 Version Already in Development
CoinFeed June 26 news, according to Bloomberg, Apple's first touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected to launch between late 2026 and early 2027, featuring current M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, rather than the next-generation M6 series. The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro will introduce touchscreen, OLED display, and Dynamic Island interface for the first time, marking the biggest upgrade to the high-end Mac lineup since 2021. Apple also plans to skip the M6 Pro/Max and directly advance the AI-optimized M7 Pro/Max chip, expected to launch as early as the end of 2027. The report says the M7 series will significantly improve neural engine, graphics performance, and memory bandwidth to enhance local AI model operation capabilities, indicating Apple is accelerating its layout of AI hardware ecosystem.
