Fed's Kashkari: Expects One Rate Hike in 2026
CoinFeed June 26 news, Fed official Kashkari stated that signs of widespread inflation led him to forecast one rate hike this year in the Fed's economic projections released earlier this month. And interest rates are expected to remain unchanged in 2027. In an interview with the media on Friday, Kashkari said: 'I am concerned about inflation, not just because of the situation in the Middle East, but as a sign of broader inflationary pressures in the economy.' The Iran war has pushed up oil prices, and prices in many categories have also risen. This has exacerbated concerns among some Fed officials that inflation is more widespread and persistent, possibly requiring stronger action from the central bank. A report released earlier this week showed that the annual PCE rate in May recorded 4.1%, the largest increase since April 2023. Prices have exceeded the Fed's 2% target for more than five years.
