Binance founder says Greece MiCA application was compliant and close to approval, later withdrawn due to 'political factors'
CoinFeed June 29 news, according to The Block, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) stated that Binance's MiCA license application submitted in Greece was 'fully compliant' and was close to obtaining approval from at least one country's regulator, but was forced to withdraw last week due to the intervention of unspecified 'political forces.' CZ said that originally two EU countries were vying for the application, and currently Binance plans to turn to other member states to apply, so as to continue operating in the EU after MiCA takes effect. CZ described this outcome as a 'loss' for both Binance and Europe, and mentioned previous experiences in Japan and Singapore where regulatory resistance was encountered first before adjusting strategies.
