Massachusetts amended complaint accuses Kalshi of offering sports betting to users under 21

Kalshi allows individuals aged 18 and above to create accounts and bet on sporting events. The case began in September 2025, when state authorities accused Kalshi of offering sports betting in violation of state law. The CFTC previously filed a brief in Massachusetts asserting "exclusive jurisdiction" over prediction markets, with Chairman Michael Selig stating that "Congress has given the CFTC the sole authority to regulate commodity derivatives markets." Kalshi has not yet responded to a request for comment.
