Meta plans to launch cloud infrastructure business, selling AI compute and model access to external customers

CoinFeed July 2 news, according to Bloomberg, Meta is developing a cloud infrastructure business plan, intending to sell AI compute and model access to external customers, competing with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. Meta has formed an internal team called Meta Compute to handle this business, led by infrastructure head Santosh Janardhan, Meta Superintelligence Labs AI division head Daniel Gross, and Meta President Dina Powell McCormick. Meta is considering selling access to AI models hosted on its AI infrastructure (similar to AWS Bedrock model), as well as 'raw' computing power (similar to new cloud service providers like CoreWeave).
