Coinbase AI's Erroneous World Cup Score Alert Draws Criticism

CoinFeed reported on July 6, according to CoinDesk, Coinbase pushed an AI-generated 'breaking news' to users, claiming that Norway defeated Brazil 3-2 in the World Cup knockout stage and Erling Haaland scored twice, but the match had not yet started at the time, and Coinbase's own prediction market page still showed the match delayed due to weather. After multiple users posted screenshots on X platform, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated that an investigation had been launched. Coinbase's head of consumer products, Max Branzburg, later said that the error had been corrected and the company had updated its systems to prevent similar inaccuracies from recurring. The actual match result was Norway 2-1 Brazil, and Haaland did score two goals.
