European Parliament Calls for Review of DeFi and NFT Regulation, MiCA Follow-up Framework on Agenda
CoinFeed July 8 news, according to Crypto.news, European Parliament members passed a policy position report on Tuesday, requesting the European Commission to review whether DeFi, staking, crypto lending, NFTs, and tokenized financial assets should be included in the MiCA framework follow-up regulation. The report does not modify existing laws or impose new obligations, but sets priority directions for the next phase of crypto regulation. The report also calls for consistent implementation among member states, warning that different national approaches could weaken the EU digital asset single market. In May, the European Commission launched a public consultation on whether MiCA should be extended to more crypto activities and whether to reconsider restrictions on interest-bearing stablecoins. The report takes a positive attitude towards tokenization and euro stablecoins, stating that if rules are uniformly implemented, it will enhance the competitiveness of European financial markets.
