US tech giants have raised about $182 billion through bond issuances this year, far exceeding last year's $13 billion in the same period
CoinFeed July 8 news, according to Bloomberg, since this year, tech giants such as Amazon, Alphabet, Nvidia, Meta, Oracle, and SpaceX have raised about $182 billion through investment-grade bond issuances of over $25 billion each, far exceeding the less than $13 billion in the same period last year, mainly used for infrastructure spending such as artificial intelligence and data centers. Market interest in such "megadeals" has cooled somewhat. Amazon's latest $25 billion bond issuance attracted orders only 1.6 times the issue size. SpaceX's $25 billion bond issuance last month weakened in the secondary market relative to US Treasuries. Some institutions worry that continued large-scale debt issuance by the tech and AI sectors in the coming years will increase portfolio concentration and repricing risks.
