The court ruled that the plaintiffs failed to meet the legal standard for an emergency injunction; although the businesses demonstrated they would suffer economic losses, it was insufficient to outweigh the public interest represented by the state legislation coming into effect. Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti called crypto ATMs a 'tool for scammers targeting vulnerable residents, rarely used for anything close to a legitimate purpose.' The law makes installing or operating a crypto ATM a Class A misdemeanor.
