Vitalik Proposes Compromise Between AI Factions: Pre-agree to Pause if Extreme Scenarios Occur

He pointed out that there are currently two factions in the AI community: one believes superintelligence is inevitable before 2040 and must be controlled as soon as possible; the other believes AI is just ordinary technology and pausing is controlling humans. Vitalik said he is not sure which side is correct, is open to slowing down or pausing, but opposes large AI companies promoting the narrative that 'open source is harmful', believing that this is essentially power centralization. Vitalik proposed a compromise: both sides can pre-agree that if some extreme scenarios (such as a super pandemic, mass unemployment, etc.) really occur, they will agree to initiate an AI pause; if these scenarios do not appear, proceed according to the other side's plan.
