Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited: Multiple Phony Websites Found Using Virtual Wallets for Fraud

CoinFeed reported on July 11 that Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (HKICL) issued an announcement disclosing that recently multiple counterfeit websites have been found luring users to submit personal information such as ID card numbers, ID card photos, and phone numbers under the guise of "buyer online safety protection" for so-called "real-name authentication", and using cash rewards as incentives, performing so-called virtual wallet top-ups and withdrawals. Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited urges the public to be wary of suspicious phone calls, websites, or other communications, and to report to the police as soon as possible if they suspect fraud.
